Samsung Galaxy S20 series models started to receive the July update. Let’s see what the security-focused update brings.
Samsung continues to distribute full-fledged updates. The company started to distribute the July 2021 Android security update for the Galaxy S10 series before even entering July. The latest security patch was later released for Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Tab Active 2 and Galaxy Tab A 8.0. The company is now bringing the Samsung Galaxy S20 series together with the July security update.
The Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 + and Galaxy S20 Ultra have started receiving the latest update in Germany. The update carries the version number G98xFXXU8DUF9 for the LTE versions of the Galaxy S20 series, and G98xBXXU8DUF9 for the 5G versions. This update also fixes some users’ problems with Android Auto. The company has not released the list of bugs and vulnerabilities it fixed with the July 2021 patch, but we expect it to make that information public in the next few days.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra with Android 10-based One UI 2 version last year. Smartphones received the Android 11-based One UI 3 update a few months ago. They are currently included in Samsung’s monthly software update program and will continue to receive updates in this direction for a long time to come.
The Galaxy S20 series will receive the Android 12 update in the first quarter of 2022. The phones will be upgraded to One UI 4.0 on the software side with the new Android version.
