Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) researchers in Norway have developed a kind of application that can be used on plastic waste. In the developed application, if users encounter plastic waste on the coastline, they take a photo of the waste and GPS coordinates are recorded on the application.

The recorded photograph is compared with the photographs in the database and it can be determined as an estimate of what the object is, its type, its path in the ocean with the effect of factors such as currents and tides.

Plastic waste
In addition to all these features, if the mentioned plastics start to accumulate in some areas, the teams can be directed to the relevant region for cleaning, and the relevant area can be visited by the municipal teams for inspection if the area where the plastics come is within reach.

After the new application is completed, it will be tested with 100 people and will be available to the public in about a year.
