ALIEN News: PRODUCER NOAH HAWLEY REVEALED TO BE WORKING ON AN ALIEN FX SERIES, AND HAS A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO FILMS

After the fiasco that was Alien: Covenant (2017), caused by Ridley Scott himself and that motivated 20th Century Fox to send the franchise ‘to the freezer’, it seemed that it would stay that way for a while.

However, there is a project to revive it as a television series. This comes from the hands of Noah Hawley, who has the role of creative producer. This author spoke about this matter in a recent interview.

THE ALIEN SERIES WILL NOT HAVE ELLEN L. RIPLEY

When Hawley was asked what was next for him, he commented ‘it’s [an] Alien series for FX, taking on that franchise and those incredible Ridley Scott, James Cameron and David Fincher movies.’

He commented that they weren’t just monster movies. At least for this creative, his theme “is about humanity trapped between our primordial and parasitic past, and our future of Artificial Intelligence, and both are trying to kill us.”

What stage is the series at? From Noah Hawley’s comments, he has only written a couple of scripts, but he hopes to start filming “next spring.” He highlighted “when you get to something with this level of visual effects, you have to prepare a lot.”

Something they asked him is if this new program has to do with the story of Lieutenant Ellen L. Ripley, played by actress Sigourney Weaver. In reality, it will not.

PART OF THE HISTORY WILL TAKE PLACE ON EARTH

“This is not a Ripley story,” he said, adding later, “She is one of the great characters of all time, and I think the story has been told perfectly and I don’t want to mess with her.” Later, he revealed “it is a story that also takes place on Earth.”

That is certainly a very different approach for most of the films in the franchise, if you leave out the Predator crossovers where that idea has also been handled.

Hawley explained ‘Alien stories are always trapped … Trapped in a prison, trapped in a spaceship. I thought it would be interesting to open it up a bit so that the “what if you can’t contain it?” Assumptions are more immediate. ”

Without a doubt, what the producer raises is interesting. By the way, and before anyone asks, the series has neither a launch window nor any actor recruited to the cast. He still has a long way to go.
