Sony’s last generation console PlaySation 4 and the next generation console PlayStation 5 have been announced. In addition, the number of sales of the PlaySattion exclusive game Miles Morales has also been announced.
Sony recently shared some statistics for the last two game consoles. Sharing its data in the third quarter of fiscal year 2020, Sony enabled us to learn how much PlayStation 4 has sold so far and how much PlayStation 5 has sold.
According to the statement made, PlayStation 5, which debuted on November 12, 2020, sold 4.5 million units in 2020. PlayStation 5 is expected to reach 7.6 million sales by March 31, 2021.
The data are not only for PlayStation 5, but also for the sales numbers of PlayStation 4. In the third quarter of fiscal 2020, PlayStation 4 sold 1.4 million units, exceeding 115 million in total. PlayStation sold 4.6 million units in the same period last year. As you can see, there is an obvious decrease, but of course the reason for this is the release of PlaySation 5.
As of December 31, 2020, PlayStation Plus has 47.4 million subscribers. In the third quarter of fiscal 2020, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games sold a total of 103.7 million units. 18.4 million of these sales belong to the first party games of PlayStation.
Finally, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which debuted exclusively for PlayStation 4 and 5, was also announced to have sold 4.1 million units in the same period, the third quarter of the fiscal year 2020.
