Apple has launched a free battery exchange program for its 2016 and 2017 MacBook Pro laptops. The battery of devices that do not charge more than 1% will be replaced free of charge.
Apple recently released the macOS Big Sur 11.2.1 update, which is expected to fix charging issues in older MacBook Pro models. The company has also launched a free battery replacement program for 2016 and 2017 MacBook Pro computers.
Few users say they are faced with the battery not charging more than 1% on their 2016 or 2017 MacBook Pro computers. On these devices, a message saying “Service Recommended” appears in the battery health section.
Which models does it cover?
Apple will replace the battery of all MacBook Pros suffering from this problem for free. The company states in the support section on its website that macOS Big Sur 11.2.1 and macOS Catalina 10.15.7 updates have been released to address these issues.
Owners of 2016 and 2017 MacBook Pro, whose charging problem did not improve despite software updates, should contact the nearest Apple authorized service to benefit from the free battery replacement program. The list of models covered by the program is as follows:
