“We want to make sure we believe we will win if everything is equal,” said Mayor Francis Suarez.
Most attractive city
Francis Suarez, who has served as the mayor of Miami since 2017, wants to make the city the most attractive in the United States for those in the crypto and blockchain industry.
In an interview published with Forbes on Sunday, Suarez said that lawmakers in Miami are exploring the policies of crypto-friendly areas such as Wyoming and New York in order to encourage regulatory incentives for crypto and blockchain in Florida.
“[Miami] makes sure we have the most progressive crypto laws. We want to make sure we believe we will win if everything is equal. So, we just want to level the playing field. We want to make sure that no one gives us the upper hand based on laws that can be easily changed. ”
Growing the ecosystem
Mayor Suarez did not describe the race as the organizer winner as a struggle between MPs in other jurisdictions. Instead, he congratulated Wyoming for being “smart” in attracting crypto companies, but added that “every city in America and around the world should try to grow its tech ecosystem.”
The mayor has made several bullish statements about Bitcoin (BTC) and crypto over the past few weeks. These statements also include the consideration of Miami city employees to allow them to receive payments in BTC instead of US dollars. He also proposed to allow Miami residents to pay using crypto for local fees and taxes, as well as to invest part of the city’s budget in Bitcoin.
