BTS managed to become the first overseas artist after Michael Jackson who managed to master the Japanese Oricon chart for half a year.
On Friday (19/06), Oricon announced that BTS had mastered their album chart during the first half of 2020.
BTS’s ‘Map of the Soul: 7’ album ranked first on the Oricon album chart in the early mid-2020, after selling 429 thousand copies in Japan.
Since it was released last February, BTS’s ‘Map of the Soul: 7’ album indeed often tops the daily, weekly and monthly charts on Oricon.
BTS became the only foreign artist to reach that record for 36 years, after the last time Michael Jackson managed to top the Oricon chart for half a year with ‘Thriller’ in 1984.
After achieving great success with a full album in South Korea, BTS plans to return by releasing a full album in Japan titled ‘Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~’ on July 15, 2020.
Congratulations to BTS for the next achievements!
