Laptop sales with the Chrome OS operating system have exploded. According to IDC data, shipments increased 4.6 times compared to the same period of the previous year.

After the coronavirus epidemic, computer and tablet sales increased strongly with the transition to remote work and education. This includes Chromebook sales, which are actively used in the education segment in many countries.

According to IDC data, 13 million Chromebooks were sold worldwide in the first quarter of this year alone. In other words, the sales of laptops running Chrome OS have increased 4.6 times compared to the same period of the previous year.

Tablet sales are also on the rise

HP, the market leader in the Chromebook field, increased its shipments by 634%. Among the top five manufacturers are Lenovo, Acer, Dell and Samsung, whose sales rose 356%, 151%, 327% and 496% respectively.

Tablet sales increased 55.2% to 39.9 million units. Market leadership is still in the hands of Apple, which sells 12.7 million tablets and increases its sales 64.3%. Samsung, Lenovo, Amazon and Huawei brands follow the Cupertino company.
