Vice President of the United States broke the rules of the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota by not wearing a protective face mask, as the clinic rules dictate.
Mike Pence, vice president of the United States, caused controversy this Tuesday during a visit to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.
The government official did not wear a face protection mask, as the clinic rules dictate, something that generated some criticism on social networks
“The Mayo Clinic requires that all patients, visitors and staff wear a face shield or mask to slow the spread of Covid-19,” it can read on the clinic’s website.
In the images, released by Reuters, you can see a patient with a mask and Mikel Pence surrounded by an extensive entourage, where he is the only one who does not use a mask.
Asked by journalists, the vice president of the United States said that he did not wear a face mask because he was regularly tested for the new coronavirus.
“As a vice president of the United States, I regularly test for the new coronavirus and everyone around me is tested for the new coronavirus. And when the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) issued guidelines on wearing a mask, it was to recognize that people who may have the new coronavirus could prevent the possibility of transmitting the virus to another person wearing a mask, ” shot Pence.
“As I don’t have the new coronavirus, I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to be here … and look (personally) in the eyes and say thank you,” he added.
