Tokyo Olympics News: After a long wait, we can finally see them
The Tokyo Olympics are very close to happening. After being delayed due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we can finally enjoy this great sporting event in all its glory. And it looks like anime fans watching the competitions will have some surprises.
The use of iconic themes from video games and anime has been reported in Olympic stadiums for some time. Although it has not been confirmed if these songs will be used during the events, something that the games will have will be pamphlets illustrated by famous manga creators.
Anime and manga at the Tokyo Olympics
Manga news Twitter account Manga Mogura shared some images that will illustrate the Olympic Games programs. What makes these illustrations special is that they were made by the creators of One Piece, Sailor Moon, Shingeki no Kyojin and Mobile Suit Gundam.
Each of the mangakas in these series made an image for an Olympic discipline. Here we can see the illustration of Naoko Takeuchi, creator of Sailor Moon, who was in charge of capturing her style for the skating or skateboarding event.
For his part, Hajime Isayama, creator of Shingeki no Kyojin, was in charge of the illustration for climbing, one of the most recent sports to join the events of the Olympic Games. Maybe they chose him because his characters had to climb the Titans in order to kill them.
Of course, they were not the only ones to join these programs, which will surely make these Olympic Games very special. Eiichiro Oda, creator of One Piece, lent his talent to the discipline of karate, and Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, illustrator of Mobile Suit Gundam, did it for the discipline of surfing.
