Disney News; ANOTHER LIVE ACTION ON THE WAY

Disney continues with its plans to create live action versions of its great animated classics. After the success it has had with live versions of films such as “The Lion King,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and recently with “Cruella,” it is not hard to see why the company does not seem to hold back on these adaptations.

‘The Little Mermaid‘ live action is almost here and it seems that soon we will also have a new version of the classic that started it all, ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs‘. According to reports from Deadline, Disney has already chosen the actress who will play the famous princess in her new interpretation of the fairy tale.

THE NEW DISNEY PRINCESS

The actress in charge of giving life to the innocent Snow White will be the singer, actress and YouTuber, Rachel Zegler. This would be her second performance in a leading role as she is not well known yet, but this year we will see her in the role of Maria in the remake of ‘West Side Story’ directed by Steven Spielberg.

The news of Rachel’s casting is one of the first news we have of this Disney live action in a long time. The production of this film was announced in 2016 and so far we did not know much behind what they were preparing. Although with the addition of Rachel perhaps we can hope they will focus on the musical part of the story.

The only thing that was known was that the script would be written by Erin Cressida Wilson. While Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, composers who worked on the live action of ‘Aladdin’, would write songs for the adaptation of the Disney classic. Also, in 2019, it was announced that the director will be Marc Webb, known for directing the films “The Amazing Spider-Man” and “500 days with her.”

Production on the Disney film is set to begin sometime in 2022. Since we have our Snow White, it may not take long to get word of who will play the prince, the wicked witch, and the seven dwarfs. Which actor would you like to see join the cast?
