HUGO MARTIN REVEALED THAT HE HAS BEEN THINKING FOR A LONG TIME THINKING ABOUT HOW TO MAKE A ‘DOOMGIRL’
The Doom series is one of the most violent and bloody in the video game industry. Since his first title, in 1993, he has won over thousands of fans thanks to his frenetic gameplay, with a protagonist who became iconic despite not showing his face or a personality as such.
The Doom Slayer is one of the most representative characters in the history of video games, with armor that makes him look imposing and a brutal arsenal necessary to take down the hordes of demons.
However, the director of Doom Eternal, Hugo Martin, accepted that he is considering making a change in the protagonist. ‘Doomguy’ could become ‘Doomgirl’.
During a broadcast on Bethesda’s official Twitch channel, Martin assured that he ‘has thought‘ of making the Doom Slayer a woman. Although he might seem far-fetched, the developer believes that he would not only seek to change the appearance of the character, but would seek to modify the gameplay.
DOOM COULD BE MORE LETHAL
Of course, the Doom series is visceral and bloodthirsty. It is difficult to imagine it even more deadly, but Hugo Martin believes that with a Doom Slayer in female version a different type of action could be shown.
‘I think if we did it, I would like it to be lethal. I think it would be interesting to see how it would affect the Glory Kills and the weapons that she would have. The fighting style would definitely be very aggressive, but a different kind of aggressiveness’.
‘I would really try my best to have a good impact on the gameplay, in a way that’s meaningful. I’ve definitely thought about it a lot! ‘Admitted the Doom director.
In Quake 3 we could see Crash, a character who fights alongside The Slayer and who could give us an idea of what “Doomgirl” would be like. But we’re sure that id Software and Bethesda could really surprise us if they decide to make this version in a future Doom game.
