EA is preparing to buy mobile game developer Glu Mobile for $ 2.4 million.
Electronic Arts has decided to acquire Glu Mobile, the developer of well-known games such as Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. The video game company has signed a $ 2.4 billion deal.
The specified amount will be paid to Glu Mobile in cash at once. EA Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilson announced that they wanted this acquisition because they believe Glu Mobile is the fastest growing mobile game developer in the world.
The company has doubled the size of its mobile business with the acquisition of Glu Mobile. It also expands its portfolio. In addition to the game Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, Glu Mobile is known for developing other famous games such as Diner Dash: Adventures, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj, Jason Statham and Gordon Ramsay. These games are mostly free-to-play games with micropayments, a business model that EA has previously said it wants to keep following. EA places great emphasis on free games with micropayments because it sees them as a great source of income.
With the acquisition, Glu Mobile and its 800 employees will continue to work independently. However, besides their own projects, they will also develop studies based on EA’s intellectual property. They will also leverage EA’s marketing techniques and global presence to increase users of their games. Wilson said that despite Glu’s success, it has not yet had a large international reach and EA will contribute greatly to the company’s growth at this point.
Finally, it is a matter of curiosity what kind of games we will get as a result of EA and Glu Mobile partnership. However, let’s point out that we expect to see quality mobile games.
