Having bought a local mall, Epic Games is trying something new in its next big project.Epic Games, the renowned video game developer and publisher, announced plans to acquire the Cary Towne Center, an indoor mall, over the weekend.
According to sources, the company officially bought this place. The mall called Carry Town Center had become a locally located mall that lived its golden age in the 80s and grew rapidly over the next decade.
Of course all good things must come to an end in time, and this Carry Town Center was no exception. As the retail environment changed and online sales soared, tenants in the mall started moving. This establishment, which once developed and shined like a star, collapsed financially and could not develop. It was even planned to be demolished after the 2020 holiday shopping season. Until its savior comes to Epic Games.
Realizing the opportunity, the famous game company agreed to buy the disbanded mall and plans to redesign the space as the company’s headquarters. Work on transforming the shopping center into a property with office buildings and recreation areas will begin this year and is expected to be completed by 2024. The financial terms of the purchase were not shared.
Epic Games seems to have started the process in which it will continue to implement its different projects. In the future, we will continue to share information as the relevant information becomes available.
