Swedish technology giant Ericsson seems to remain on the agenda for a long time, with a statement made months later. The famous company announced the number of 5G users.
As the internet infrastructure continues to improve day by day, we have started to see different features in brand new smartphones. Especially phones with 5G support enable us to access the internet faster and get faster results. While famous phone manufacturers continue to use 5G technology in their smartphones one by one, some details about 5G technology have come to the fore. Ericsson, which was shown among the largest phone manufacturers in the world for a while and was also very popular in our country, shared such details that it moved.
As you may remember, the first 5G networks started to appear in 2019. With the spread of the Covid-19 virus in 2020, when the first growth was seen, people both in our country and in the world closed their homes. As such, internet usage has increased in our country and in the world. In fact, there was a serious increase in the rate of watching videos on YouTube. Today, while 5G chipsets continue to spread rapidly with smartphones, it is stated that they have more than 200 million users.
Ericsson: 5G Users Exceed 200 Million
Ericsson also stated that more than 200 million users are using 5G technology today. Stating that this number will reach 3.5 billion in 2026, the company says that one of the biggest factors of this is the Covid-19 virus. Penj Juanjiang, general manager of Ericsson Northeast Asia Research Center, attended the “5G Evolution Summit” held at Shanghai MWC 2021 and shared this striking detail with those who were there. According to the statement, as of January 2021, there are 123 5G commercial networks worldwide and there are already 335 5G commercial terminals. It was underlined that 5G, which is stated to open 200 million users in a little more than a year, is spreading faster than 4G.
