After the purchase, Giphy will be integrated with the Facebook application family, especially Instagram.
Facebook bought GIF production and sharing tool Giphy for $ 400 million. The company will integrate Giphy’s library into Instagram and other Facebook apps after this purchase.
Having the largest GIF library in the internet world, Giphy offered its users many tools for creating, sharing and editing GIFs.
For the past few years, Instagram, Facebook, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp have also been offering GIF options to their users thanks to Giphy’s API. Even according to Facebook’s statement; The Facebook application family accounts for 50 percent of Giphy’s traffic sources. Half of this 50 percent belongs to Instagram.
Let’s say that after the purchase, Giphy will be included in the Instagram team. The Giphy team will aim to facilitate the use of GIFs and stickers in Instagram Stories and DMs. It is worth saying that currently Giphy users will not face any changes.
Instagram’s Product Deputy General Manager Vishal Shah shared the following statements in his post:
“People will still be able to upload GIFs; developers and API partners will continue to access Giphy’s APIs in the same way; and Giphy’s creative community will still be able to create great content, ”
Giphy has the largest library on the Internet as well as the largest integration network. Many social networking and messaging apps, especially Twitter, Pinterest, Slack and Reddit, benefit from Giphy. It is possible to say that this situation will change in the future.
