Reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who provides reliable information on Apple, announced that the company is preparing to launch the foldable iPhone model in 2023.
Famous analyst Min-Chi Kuo has published a new report on Apple’s future products. According to the information given by Kuo, the first foldable iPhone with flexible screen will appear in 2023.
The analyst says the foldable iPhone will feature an 8-inch OLED display with QHD + resolution. While the company’s flexible display supplier is Samsung, Apple wants to develop a foldable display design with silver nanowires, a material already used for HomePod smart speaker displays.
15 to 20 million foldable iPhones can be sold
Apple also has a number of patents disclosing the design of a potential foldable smartphone or tablet. For example, the company proposes to use a strip of super bright pixels in the fold line. When the device begins to bend, these pixels turn on to the maximum and literally heat the folded area. This solution will make the structure more durable, especially at low temperatures where materials can become more deformed.
Min-Chi Kuo believes Samsung has a chance to become the number one manufacturer of flexible display devices, although Samsung has evolved in this area for two years. According to its estimates, the company could launch 15 to 20 million foldable iPhones in 2023. It is currently unknown what the device to be developed by Apple will be and how exactly it will be different from its competitors.
