Google Maps will display data on agglomerations in public transport, as well as health recommendations for traffic due to the coronavirus pandemic. Last year, the app gained forecasts for capacity, but now this will come with time indications, updated in real time, in which stations / terminals, buses, trains and subways are more or less full compared to the standard level.
The novelty will arrive via globally distributed update, in the coming weeks on Android and iOS devices. To access it, you will need to open the routes tab and select a type of public transport of interest.
Users passing through border regions, such as the USA, Mexico and Canada, will also receive alerts regarding check stops, restrictions and mandatory measures, such as wearing masks. According to Ramesh Nagarajan, product director at Google Maps, these details follow official data provided by governments from all spheres and specialized agencies in each location.
“Covid-19 has certainly impacted the way we move around the world. As cities and countries around the world adapt, we are committed to bringing the most relevant information directly to your fingertips. So, when you are ready and fit, you can safely venture out, ”said Nagarajan in an official publication.
