Google says the redesigned Search interface on mobile devices makes it easier for users to focus on content and reduces some of the clutter from design elements. Beyond that, the new design also aims to make it easier for users to read while browsing content.

Google designer Aileen Cheng: “We wanted to take a step back to simplify it a little bit so that people could find what they were looking for faster and easier. Rethinking the visual design for something like search is really complicated. This is especially true given how much Google Search has evolved. We organize all the information of the world, not just the web’s information. We started out by organizing web pages, but now there is a lot of variety in the types of content and information that should help make sense. We want to let search results shine and let people focus on information rather than design elements around them. she says.

On the results page, the searched header has been made bold and larger, and Google has also applied its own font in Gmail. In addition, designers say they use more vibrant colors with the new look.
