Last February, comrade Mikel told us that the huge musical ‘Hamilton’, created by Lin-Manuel Miranda and transformed into a true world phenomenon, would make the leap to the big screen thanks to an agreement with Disney valued at nothing negligible sum of $ 75 million.

The plans for this film version of the story of Alexander Hamilton narrated in a rap key, shot during three live performances of the play under the direction of Tommy Kail – responsible for the staging of the original -, were going to be released in theaters dated on October 15, 2021; But events have just taken an unexpected turn.

Today, May 12, Casa del Ratón has just announced that ‘Hamilton’ will arrive directly at Disney +, and will do so much earlier than expected; specifically, next July 3, 2020. Although, perhaps, the best of all is that the launch will be international, and will include Spain among the lucky countries, as has been revealed in the Twitter account of the streaming platform.

The musical Hamilton won a whopping 11 well-deserved Tony Awards in 2016, and its translation to the big screen will allow us to enjoy its original cast, including names such as that of Lin-Manuel Miranda himself, Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry o Leslie Odom Jr. This is a golden opportunity for all of us, who, like me, had to see this gem live after looping its songs, to finally enjoy a unique musical of its kind.
