Huawei provided information about the launch date of its inward-folding smartphone Huawei Mate X2.
Huawei is preparing to introduce a new foldable flagship phone later this month. According to Huawei’s official Weibo account, the Chinese brand’s next foldable phone will be called the Huawei Mate X2 and will be launched on February 22nd.
The shared teaser image shows that a flexible display will fold inward this time, as opposed to the Mate Xs and Mate X having fold-out displays. Considering that Huawei once made prototype designs similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold but later abandoned this project altogether, it is interesting to see the company make a true 180-degree rotation design for the upcoming new foldable smartphone model.
Commenting on the subject, Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, added that he has been using the Mate X2 for a while and it is full of surprises. In addition, it is not clear whether the embargoes imposed on Huawei and the chip supply shortage experienced by the company will show itself on this device. There is also uncertainty about when this device will be sold outside of China.
