According to the information provided by sources close to the industry, the iPhone 12s Pro and 12s Pro Max models, which Apple will introduce towards the end of the year, will have LTPO display technology.

Introduced in the past weeks, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra was the first smartphone to use a screen with LTPO technology. According to new information coming in parallel, we will see LTPO screens in new iPhone 12s series smartphones and a few upcoming flagship Android smartphones.

Ross Young, a name close to the industry and founder of Display Supply Chain Consultants and DisplaySearch research companies, shared a list of LTPO screen smartphones that will be released this year. Note that for those who are not familiar with LTPO technology, this abbreviation stands for Low Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide.

IPhones with displays above 60Hz are coming
Displays with LTPO technology are already used in Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Apple Watch 4, and the main advantage of LTPO is the ability to dynamically change refresh rates up to 1 Hz to conserve battery power.

The list of smartphones published by Ross Young also shows that Apple is finally preparing to launch an iPhone with a screen refresh rate of over 60Hz. It is also worth remembering that the iPhone 12, which was introduced a few months ago, has only 60Hz refresh rate. There is currently no information about other technical specifications of the iPhone 12s Pro and iPhone 12s Pro Max models.
