Jack Dorsey, co-founder of social media network Twitter and financial services firm Square, announced plans to integrate Bitcoin’s Lightning Network sidechain with at least one of its businesses.
Lightning Network can integrate with Twitter
Dorsey answered a question from a Twitter user on June 11. The Twitter user, using the pseudonym Deyonte, in his tweet demanded that Dorsey integrate the Lightning Network into Twitter or BlueSky.
In response, Dorsey said, “It’s just a matter of time.” gave the answer.

Dorsey’s comment was interpreted that BlueSky or Twitter could get Lightning integration soon. Some names even think that both platforms can have this integration. However, it should be noted that this is not an official statement and uncertainty continues.
Twitter user “mklad” also suggested that Dorsey’s pro-Lightning statements may be related to Square’s recent acquisition of music streaming platform Tidal.
Square’s moves continue
This tweet by Dorsey comes amid Square’s latest moves to expand its digital asset operations.
Earlier this month, Dorsey announced that Square plans to develop an open-source custody-free Bitcoin hardware wallet. The next day, Square reportedly revealed a partnership with blockchain infrastructure firm Blockstream and plans to invest $5 million in a solar-powered Bitcoin mining facility.
Dorsey has long argued that Bitcoin mining drives adoption and innovation in renewable energy. Dorsey revealed that Square committed $10 million to the Bitcoin Clean Energy Investment Initiative in December.
