James Cameron has returned to talk about Avatar 2, emphasizing the beauty of the show under construction. The director said he was enthusiastic: “I have to deal with the images of this world every single day and there are moments when I look at them and think: ‘It’s really fantastic.” Then he added: “And with this I swear I am not patting myself on the shoulders”. James Cameron signed the screenplay with Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver and Shane Salerno. The release of Avatar 2 is set for December 2021. Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang will return to the cast. Among the new arrivals on the set there are also those of Kate Winslet and Oona Chaplin.
Recently James Cameron, regarding Avatar 2, revealed that post-production and editing are still managed remotely. “On the positive side, New Zealand appears to have been very effective in controlling the virus and their goal is not mitigation, but eradication, which they believe they can do with aggressive tracking and testing,” explained Cameron. “So there is a good chance that our shooting may be delayed for a couple of months, but we can still do it. So this is good news. ” The director added: “We all have – all those from Weta Digital and Lightstorm – who work from home to the extent possible.” “But my job is on stage with virtual cameras and so on, so I can do some editing, but it’s not great for me.”
Avatar 2’s official Twitter account has posted a new behind-the-scenes photo of actors Kate Winslet, Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington and Cliff Curtis in an underwater shot. “From the sequel set: Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Kate Winslet and Cliff Curtis take a break after diving performances for a quick photo,” tweeted the official account of the Avatar movie. “Fun fact: Much of the performance took place in this 900,000-gallon tank, built specifically for the sequels.”
