Gartner, one of the research organizations, has prepared a report summarizing data on smartphone sales in the first quarter of 2021. According to the published report, the smartphone market grew by 26% compared to the same period of the previous year. While 300 million smartphones were sold in the first quarter of 2020, this number reached almost 380 million in the first quarter of 2021. Samsung Apple and Xiaomi Ranked in the Top Three
In the first quarter of the year, Samsung took the top spot. Holding 20.3% of the market, Samsung has sold 76.6 million smartphones in the last three months.
Another manufacturer that increased smartphone sales was Apple. Apple, which sold 40.9 million iPhones in the first quarter of last year, increased the number to 58.5 million in the same period of this year. Apple’s market share was announced as 15.5%.
Coming to Xiaomi, smartphone sales continue to increase. Xiaomi, which held 9.9% of the market last year, increased this rate to 12.9% in the first quarter of 2021. Smartphone sales rose from 29.6 million to 38.7 million.
There is also a significant increase on the Vivo front. Vivo increased its smartphone sales of 22.3 million last year to 38.7 million in the first three months of this year. The market share of the company was announced as 10.2%.
Let’s come to OPPO. Chinese companies are living their golden age in the quarter we left behind. OPPO increased its phone sales from 23.9 million to 38.3 million in the first quarter of this year.
One of the striking points in the research is that more than 70% of all smartphone sales worldwide were made by 5 manufacturers.
