LG is expanding its webOS Smart TV platform and integrated content services to other TV manufacturers to offer more users a Smart TV experience.
LG Electronics (LG) is disrupting the status quo in an industry known for proprietary operating systems from different manufacturers by announcing that it offers the popular webOS Smart TV ecosystem to other TV brand partners. LG is expanding its expertise beyond TV production to include webOS Smart TV software platform development and adoption by other TV brands. This step will significantly increase LG’s presence and importance in the global home entertainment market, while offering new possibilities for both technology and content providers.
As an integral component of LG’s home entertainment ecosystem, webOS is an award-winning platform that provides ease of use to LG TV users with its user-friendly interface design since 2014. The new webOS Smart TV licensees included in this platform will have a rich feature pool appreciated by users and the industry, such as voice search and control, integrated artificial intelligence algorithms and easy connection options, as well as the highly acclaimed UX design of the platform. In addition, partners with LG webOS TV; Global online video platform applications such as Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Disney + and sports streaming service DAZN will also provide access to popular local application options such as BluTV, Bein Connect, TV +, Vodafone TV, Tivibu Go.
More than twenty TV manufacturers from around the world, including brands such as RCA, Ayonz and Konka, have committed to the webOS partnership. The webOS ecosystem is also supported by technology partners such as Realtek, Nuance, Gracenote, CEVA and Universal Electronics.
