A new statement came from LG, announcing that the mobile division will be closed. The company will offer Android updates to some smartphone models for up to three years, even though the mobile division will be shut down.
LG, which recently confirmed that the company will close the mobile part of the company, has announced that it will offer support for up to three Android operating system updates for its premium smartphones starting from the year it was purchased, considering its current users.
Some models will receive two years of updates
Announcing in a post, the South Korean technology giant stated that the three OS update warranties will be applied to the G-series, V-series, Velvet and Wing smartphones released in 2019 or later.
The company reported that not all devices will receive three OS updates, 2020 models such as the LG Stylo and K series will receive two OS updates. LG said the exact schedule will depend on Google’s OS deployment timeline and other factors such as device performance and compatibility.
LG announced that it will close its mobile division as of July 31st. The company will continue to produce phones in the second quarter to fulfill contractual obligations to partners. The tech giant suffered nearly $ 4.5 billion in losses over six years. LG aims to move out of the competitive smartphone industry and invest more in other industries.
