MediaTek has come up with a new chipset that will be in the middle segment. Let’s see what the MediaTek Helio G96 chipset offers?
MediaTek came up with an interesting decision today about the chipset. The company, which we think will continue on its way with the Dimensity series, has revived the Helio series. We can say that the chipset giant, which will target mid-segment phones with the MediaTek Helio G96, cannot increase the Dimensity series with the features it offers.
The new player of the middle segment: MediaTek Helio G96
MediaTek’s new chipset consists of two Cortex A76 cores clocked at 2.05 GHz and six Cortex A55 cores. As you may recall, the Helio G95 had the Mali G76 MC4 graphics unit. Interestingly, this chipset features the Mali G57 MC2 graphics unit, which will be more powerful. It is not yet known why MediaTek made such a choice.
In terms of screen, our new chipset supports 120 Hz screen refresh rate, Full HD + resolution, LCD and OLED panels. In addition, on the video side, it allows shooting 4K resolution video at 30 FPS, as well as supports 108 Megapixel sensors. With this chipset, it has also been revealed that the 108 Megapixel sensor will enter the middle segment next year.
Our chipset, which comes with CAT 13 connection on LTE, also has Bluetooth 5.2 connection. MediaTek, which prefers UFS 2.2 on the storage side, also includes HyperEngine 2.0 Lite technology in this chip. Thanks to HyperEngine 2.0 Lite, optimization is done quickly and stuttering problems are prevented in games. It also includes new camera processing features for the G96, such as 3DNR and MFNR noise reduction in hardware.
In the last quarter of 2021, we will start to see this chipset in mid-segment phones from Chinese manufacturers. The new chipset, which is also more affordable than Dimensity in terms of price, seems to play a role in reducing phone prices a little.
