THE MONOGATARI SERIES AT FIRST SIGHT LOOKS COMPLICATED. KNOW THE ORDER IN WHICH YOU CAN ENJOY THE WORK OF NISIO ISIN

When someone takes a look at the Monogatari series, one of the things that surely comes to mind is ‘in what order should I watch them?’

Logic would indicate that the most appropriate would be when they came out over the years. However, some fans who have already seen them, or who have read Nisio Isin’s novels, would say that this idea is wrong. What happens is that Shaft, the studio in charge of these, was launching them in a different way.

WHAT IS THE CORRECT ORDER OF THE MONOGATARI SERIES?

It is for the same reason that for many, choosing something is… chaotic. The story revolves around the protagonist, Koyomi Araragi, and various encounters with young girls related to the supernatural in the most diverse way.

Each of them has a different and well-defined personality, whose stories and background create an extensive account. So much so, that Isin has not finished writing it yet. It began in August 2005 and to date it has 26 volumes.

Nisio Isin continues to write Monogatari, from which various series have emerged over the years. In order of issue, it starts with Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, Nekomonogatari Black, Monogatari Season 2, Hanamonogatari, Tsukimonogatari, and Owarimonogatari.

It is after that Koyomimonogatari, Kizumonogatari (divided into three parts), Owarimonogatari 2 and Zoku Owarimonogatari follow. That’s in the case of seeing them when they came out.

THERE IS THE ORDER OF ISSUE AND THE CHRONOLOGICAL TO ENJOY

Is it possible to understand the plot if it is done that way? That’s when the complicated begins. Many emphasize that it is better to see Kizumonogatari first than Koyomimonogatari.

The other way to enjoy anime is through chronological order. It also has its detractors, as some believe that the mystery of Nisio Isin’s work is diluted a bit. If they choose to view the series in this way, it would be as follows:

– Kizumonogatari (Three Parts).

– Nekomonogatari Black.

– Bakemonogatari.

– Nisemonogatari.

– Monogatari Season 2 (Mayoi Jiangshi and Shinobu Time).

– Owarimonogatari (Shinobu Mail).

– Monogatari Season 2 (Tsubasa Tiger).

– Owarimonogatari (Ougi Formula, Sodachi Riddle and Sodachi Lost).

– Monogatari Season 2 (Nadeko Medusa, Hitagi End)

– Tsukimonogatari.

– Koyomimonogatari (Nothing and End).

– Owarimonogatari 2.

– Zoku Owarimonogatari.

– Hanamonogatari.
