Dallas Mavericks was the second NBA team to start accepting Bitcoin as a means of payment in 2019. Now it has partnered with BitPay to accept Dogecoin (DOGE) as a means of payment for match tickets and goods purchases.
Dogecoin, known as a joke token, is a crypto currency that has recently reached record levels thanks to those who talk about social media, especially fed by Elon Musk’s posts. Crypto payment firm BitPay added Dogecoin to its list of supported cryptocurrencies today, and Mavs was the first to take steps to accept it as payment. So what’s the reason behind this adoption? “Because we can,” Mark Cuban, the team’s owner and billionaire technology investor, said in a press release Thursday.
“We chose to do this because sometimes you have to do things in the business world that are fun, interesting, and hopefully generate a lot of PR. So we will buy Dogecoin today, tomorrow and possibly forever. For those who want to learn more about Dogecoin, we strongly recommend that you talk to and ask young people on TikTok. ”
Mark Cuban may have signaled development with his Dogecoin share recently. Cuban said in his post that Dogecoin is “the best entertainment to spend money” in the crypto industry and “looks bad” for investors. The famous name said, “DOGE gives a greater chance of winning than a lottery ticket and teaches crypto assets with a supply-demand economy. “I love this cryptocurrency because it is a low-cost economic teaching tool while also entertaining,” he explained.
