The new generation Honda Civic Sedan, which was recently uncovered, brought many innovations in terms of both interior and exterior design and technology. Here are the details:
The next generation Honda Civic Sedan, one of the highly anticipated cars of this year, has finally emerged. Introduced as the 11th generation, the new Civic Sedan brought many innovations in both design and technology.
When we look at the design of the new 2022 Honda Civic Sedan, we can see that the Japanese brand is trying to simplify both interior and exterior design. For this reason, when designing the new Civic Sedan, Honda included design concepts inspired by classic Civic models as well as the philosophy of ‘maximum people, minimum machine’.
The wheelbase of the new generation Civic Sedan has been increased by 35 mm and its total length by 33 mm. In addition, the increased rear track width also provided extra stability to the vehicle. On the other hand, the starting point of the A pillars has also been moved back by about 50 mm. Thus, emphasis was placed on the length of the front. The low shoulder line and the side mirrors carried to the door also contributed to the improvement of the viewing angle.
Honda has made the new Civic Sedan more durable. Using high-strength steel and aluminum for this, the company has improved torsion resistance by 8 percent and bending resistance by 13 percent. In this way, the weight of the new Civic Sedan, which is better than the old in terms of driving, handling and safety, has increased by around 45 kilograms. The 2022 Honda Civic Sedan has a total of 10 airbags, including new front airbags and rear side airbags designed to reduce traumatic brain and neck injury.
We could only see the interior of the 2022 Honda Civic Sedan as a drawing. This time, the renovated cabin is in front of us with all the details. A 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 7-inch multimedia screen are standard in the new cabin. If this is not enough, let us state that the multimedia screen appears as 9 inches in the upper packages. The vehicle, which has wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play support, also includes a wireless smartphone charging unit in the upper packages.
The first official image of the new generation Honda Civic Sedan has been shared
It is possible to say that better quality materials are used in the interior of the new Civic Sedan, which has a simpler appearance. In addition, the design that extends throughout the console, including the air vents, adds a retro look to the car. In the center of the console, there are rotary knobs where air conditioning controls are made. On the center console, there are buttons such as large cup holders, USB ports and an electronic parking brake. In addition, the 12-speaker Bose sound system is among the features.
When we look at the driving assistants of the 2022 Honda Civic Sedan, we see that security technologies called Honda Sensing have been improved by the new camera that provides a wider view angle than before. With better software and powerful processor support, the system detects lanes and road signs more quickly and precisely, as well as cyclists, pedestrians and other vehicles.
Thanks to this change, the vehicle, where the adaptive cruise control and lane tracking system work better, now also has traffic jam assistant. On the other hand, 8 sonar sensors, which we encountered for the first time in the Civic, have also provided the car with an aid that provides automatic brake support in low speed conditions – for example during parking.
The new Honda Civic Sedan will be sold in the US with trim levels LX, Sport, EX and Touring. In the LX and Sport levels, there is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder atmospheric unit that produces 158 horsepower and 187 Nm of torque. The unit in question powers the front wheels via CVT. In the EX and Touring, a 1.5-liter turbo unit is used. The engine, which produces 180 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque, has 6 horsepower and 20 Nm higher values than the previous generation. In this option, CVT transmission is the only option.
The 2022 Honda Civic Sedan will take its place in showrooms in the USA next summer. A few months from now, we will see the Civic Hatchback version. The version to be sold in the USA will be produced at the company’s Canadian facility. The price of the new Civic Sedan is not yet clear.
