According to Bloomberg’s report, the new Switch Pro model will come with a 7-inch 720p OLED display. It is stated that the console can output 4K resolution in TV mode.
Nintendo’s successful game console Switch will receive an important update very soon. New details came from Bloomberg today for the Switch Pro, which we have heard rumors for a while. According to Takashi Mochizuki’s report, the new Switch Pro model will appear with a 7-inch 720p OLED screen produced by Samsung.
Bloomberg news also states that Switch Pro can output in 4K resolution when connected to TVs. Current Switch models were able to output at most 1080p. On the hardware side, no information was given about the updates.
It may be a little worrying that the Switch Pro remains at a low resolution of 720p despite its 7-inch screen. Nintendo seems to want to pay more attention to the battery part here. Although the current Switch models already have 720p screens, they usually play games below this resolution. The introduction of the Switch Pro with a higher resolution screen would have a negative impact on the battery, but it might not make much sense for games.
On the other hand, the Switch Pro model is expected to have a much better screen / case ratio. Thus, despite the growing screen, the case size will not be much different from the 6.2-inch Switch model.
Samsung will begin mass production of the Switch Pro’s OLED display in June. The official promotion of the console is expected this year.
