The new 911 GT3, touring the Nurburgring in under 7 minutes, manages to attract attention with the huge wing behind it. Here are the new Porsche 911 GT3 and its features:
One of the most curious sports cars of 2021 was the new Porsche 911 GT3. The model, which has been with us with hint visuals for a while, was officially introduced today and brought impressive values.
At the heart of the 2021 Porsche 911 GT3 is a flat six-cylinder 4.0-liter atmospheric unit. The engine, which can turn 9000 rpm, produces 502 horsepower and 469 Nm of torque. As standard, a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission is used in all new 911 GT3 models. The 6-speed manual transmission is on the option list. Completing the acceleration of 0-100 km / h with PDK in just 3.2 seconds, the maximum speed of the car was announced as 317 km / h.
One of the striking details about the new Porsche 911 GT3 is that it toured the Nurburgring in 17 seconds (6: 59.927) less than its predecessor. Achieving this impressive time of just under 7 minutes with a standard 911 GT3 is a powerful indicator of how fast the model can be on the track. It should also be noted that this period is achieved with the optionally offered track tires.
Aerodynamics play a big role in the design of the new 911 GT3. In this context, an adjustable front lip and diffuser, specially developed sills, a large rear diffuser and a huge manually adjustable wing were used in the car. The German brand ensures that these aerodynamic elements have 50 percent more downforce than the 911 GT3’s predecessor even in normal position. In the performance position – which is not recommended on normal roads – the difference is up to 150 percent.
One of the most striking details of the new Porsche 911 GT3 is revealed under the shell, in the chassis. The 992 chassis allowed Porsche to extend the width of the front track by approximately 50 mm. In addition, for the first time, a double wishbone arrangement has been placed on the front. The multilink design is maintained at the rear. Porsche emphasizes that no part of the suspension system of the new 911 GT3 is the same as the current 911 Carrera models.
Despite the transition to the larger 992 platform, Porsche stated, the weight of the new 911 GT3 remained almost the same as its predecessor. Underlying this success is the use of more lightweight materials in the new model. For example, the bonnet, rear wing and the fixed spoiler below it are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic. Lighter, sound-insulating glasses are also used in the windows.
Some changes have also been made to the cabin of the new 911 GT3. In this area, the 360 mm diameter steering wheel special to GT3 draws attention. Dressed as standard in high-quality microfibre ‘Race-Tex’ material, the steering wheel also features a drive mode selector. In the cabin, customers can choose either 18-way adjustable Sports Seats Plus seats or all carbon fiber bucket seats. The second option is stated to be 11.8 kilograms lighter than standard seats.
