After Apple updated the ipadOS with support for mouse and trackpad, Microsoft is already developing an update of the version of Office for mobile devices. This way, users will be able to use these features in Word, Excel and Power Point.
According to the North American page TechCrunch, the company is working on the update and intends to launch it by the end of 2020. However, support may reach iPad apps earlier than expected.
Microsoft quick updates for iPad
According to the American website The Verge, Microsoft has a good record of launching quick updates for programs on iOS. For example, the company quickly released an update to Outlook compatible with the iPad Split View function in 2019.
Earlier this year, the unified Office app for iOS was also launched. It brings together the main programs in the package and other mobile resources in one small application.
In this way, it is possible that support for the use of mice and trackpads is available for the app and the individual versions of the Office suite programs on the iPad. Without a doubt, this will greatly speed up the lives of users when carrying out the work.
How mouse and trackpad support works
Launched in March, iPadOS version 13.4 has enabled users to use trackpads and mice on iPads launched in the past four years. In this case, they are compatible with Apple’s Magic Keybord, Brydge’s Pro + and other models.
When you touch the trackpad or move the mouse, the cursor will appear as a circle on the screen. It can also assume other formats as the user hovers over applications and text fields.
