OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro allegedly manipulate results in Geekbench tests. This situation will put the brand in a difficult situation.
The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are accused of manipulating results in the Geekbench performance test. Phones powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor are at the top of the Geekbench performance list, but when it comes to real life, it has been revealed that the phones perform lower.
In simpler terms, OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro only run at full speeds in Geekbehch apps. In a way, the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are manipulating benchmark test results. After the AnandTech site revealed this situation, Geekbench removed the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro from the platform.
In-depth examination of the site revealed that the OnePlus 9 / 9 Pro only uses the Cortex-X1 core, or the full potential of the Snapdragon 888, in popular benchmarking applications. AnandTech has detected that the OnePlus 9 Pro is not fully using the processor in all the popular and other daily used apps you see on the Google Play Store. OnePlus shows that the phone is strong in some kind of performance tests here. But when it comes to daily use, it does not allow to use this power fully.
According to the statement from Geekbench, these two phones have been temporarily removed from the test platform until all gray areas in the OnePlus 9 series are illuminated. Geekbench also stated that they will review a few more OnePlus smartphones. OnePlus has not yet made a statement on the subject.
It's disappointing to see OnePlus handsets making performance decisions based on application identifiers rather than application behavior. We view this as a form of benchmark manipulation. We've delisted the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro from our Android Benchmark chart. https://t.co/G40wmWeg7o
