OnePlus has made a radical decision at the point of update distribution. Combining its power with OPPO, the company increased its update support.
OnePlus announced in early June that it will soon integrate most of its organizational resources with its parent company, OPPO. Following this important development, OnePlus has now announced changes to the codebase of OxygenOS and a new update policy regarding an improved software maintenance. OnePlus decided to determine the update support according to the models in different segments.
OnePlus has announced that it has integrated OxygenOS and OPPO’s ColorOS codebase to increase productivity and standardize the software experience. The company stated that this change took place behind the scenes and users would not notice it.
OnePlus also said that OxygenOS is now built on a more powerful platform and will remain the operating system for global OnePlus users. Existing devices will receive an OTA update along with Android 12 with this change.
OnePlus has also announced an improved software maintenance program for its existing devices. According to this;
- OnePlus 8 series and newer devices – 3 major Android updates, will receive 4 years of security updates.
- OnePlus Nord, Nord CE devices – will receive 2 major Android updates and 3 years of security updates.
- Starting with the Nord N10 and N100, all N series devices will receive – 1 major Android update and 3 years of security updates.
- This cooperation and new update policy of OnePlus on the software side is also important for us, because OnePlus phones have officially started to be sold in our country.
