OnePlus continues to participate in the Android Enterprise Recommended program to raise the bar. Last year, OnePlus 8 joined this initiative and received its certification. The OnePlus 8 Pro and the Nord series in the middle segment followed immediately after. After the launch of the OnePlus 8T, we have now learned that the OnePlus Nord N100 and N10 5G are also included in this Android program.
These two budget-friendly smartphones will continue to receive updates for bug fixes and security patches for a long time, even though OnePlus promised the only Android upgrade. Of course, they cannot be expected to receive much updates due to their affordable price. However, various improvements will continue, although not large. Phones that will receive updates by 2023 are expected to receive longer updates.
The main downside of these two young friends right now is that they are coming with OxygenOS 10.5 based on Android 10. While Android 11 is already officially available on new phones, this operating system has been the focus of criticism. OnePlus has announced that it will close this gap with OxygenOS patches. It is good news that the lack of updates in the entry segment and lower mid-segment phones will be closed in this way. Undoubtedly, the number of major Android updates will increase even more on higher-end OnePlus phones.
