Apple has stated that ARM-based chipsets have always been faster and more efficient than x86. The technology giant from Cupertino appeared in this process with the Apple M1. A new competitor seems to be coming for the ARM-based Apple M1 chipset that made Intel cry. Qualcomm will rival the Apple M1 with its new Snapdragon processors.
Today, WinFuture announced that Qualcomm is preparing a response with next-generation Snapdragon processors targeting laptops. The chipset, codenamed SC8280, seen in the databases is said to be the successor to Snapdragon 8cx and 8cx Gen 2. Unlike these chips, the SC8280 chipset will be able to run more than 16 GB of RAM. So it’s clear that this chip is designed for desktop / laptop.
It is said that the mold of the chip is significantly larger at 20 × 17 millimeters and can have more than 8 cores. It is also underlined that the chip was tested with eight gigabytes of LPPDR5 RAM with a full 32 gigabytes of LPDDR4X RAM, and it was successful. The chipset may be cheaper and available in the Pro version. In addition, it can be paired with the Snapdragon X55 5G modem.
The chip is still under development. Presumably, this development process will continue until the end of the year. Qualcomm, an experienced name in ARM, is expected to produce a more performance chip than the Apple M1. However, at the end of the year, Apple can confront us with M2 and again distribute the judiciary and make Qualcomm cry.
