Success of Netflix, the movie Rescue will win continuation. The information was confirmed by screenwriter and producer Joe Russo (Avengers: Endgame) during an interview with the American website Deadline.

“The deal is closed for me to write Rescue 2 and we are in the early stages of defining the script,” said Russo. “We still don’t know if the new plot advances or goes back in time, because the grand finale filled the audience with questions.”

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Rescue marks Sam Hargrave’s directorial debut. Previously, the filmmaker acted as a stuntman for several Marvel Studios productions, including Avengers: Endgame.

According to Joe Russo, Hemsworth and Hargrave’s return to the sequel is not yet confirmed. However, he points out that the director’s work was essential to the success of the production that debuted on April 24 on Netflix.

“There has always been a simple movement in the story, a ballistic execution of the action in which a character marked by a mistake from the past and has a chance for redemption,” says Russo. “What was critical to success was that we needed a muscular action director like Sam to be the main creative force on the project.”

Sequence or pre-sequence
Seen by more than 90 million accounts in the week of its debut on Netflix, Rescue follows the mission of mercenary Tyler Rake (Hemsworth) in the Middle East. His goal is to carry out the risky rescue of the son of a crime boss in India.

The feature film won over the audience with its action scenes and the open ending for different interpretations. The most interesting thing is that the production left a hook that can serve for a sequence or a pre-sequence.
