Camila Cabello News: A NEW VERSION OF THE CLASSIC STORY
We will have a new version of the classic Cinderella fairy tale. Although this time it will not come from the hand of Disney, which is having a lot of success with its live action. Amazon Studios will be the ones who will give us this reinterpretation with Camila Cabello as its protagonist.
The new film starring the Cuban singer, Camila Cabello, presented its first trailer. In it we can see that the classic setting of the story will be respected, although there will be some differences. We can see that Cinderella is now some kind of designer and that this time she will be aided by an African-American fairy godmother.
WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE NEW VERSION OF CAMILA CABELLO
This new film began its history from 2019 when Columbia Pictures announced that they were going to make a new musical film based on the classic tale. Director Kay Cannon, known for producing “Pitch Perfect” 2 and 3, and directing “Girlboss” episodes, will be in charge of this new film.
The new film is based on an idea by popular comedian James Corden and it was announced early on that Camila Cabello would play the lead. This made her the first Latina woman to play Cinderella. Additionally, in the cast we will have Billy Porter, who is known for being the first openly gay African American to win a Primetime Emmy Award, as a genderless, colored fairy godmother.
This version will feature music by Beyonce and the groups Eurythmics and Chic. In addition, it will feature original songs by Camila Cabello and singer Idina Menzel, known for being the voice of Elsa in ‘Frozen’, who will play Cinderella’s stepmother.
The film suffered several delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it seems that we will finally be watching it through the Amazon Prime Video platform on September 3. Well, that in the United States, there is still no official confirmation of whether it will be available in Latin America on that same date.
