Avatar News: A very successful series … at least the animated one
Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of Nickelodeon’s most successful products. The popularity of the story of the master of the four elements is so great that he already had a live action movie and a live-action series produced by Netflix is coming.
Netflix’s new Avatar series was announced in 2018 and production was scheduled to begin in 2019. However, there was not much news, other than the departure of the creators of the original series due to ‘creative differences’. But now, three years after its announcement, it seems that its start of filming is very close.
Filming of Netflix’s Avatar will finally begin
According to a report by the medium, Comicbook, the new Avatar series by Netflix will begin production next November in the city of Vancouver, Canada. Although there are still many questions about this project.
This Netflix series is intended as a live-action remake of the original Avatar. Although at first its creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, would be in charge of this new adaptation, both decided to leave since apparently they did not like the direction that was being taken. So far, Netflix has not said who will be the new manager.
It was also said that this new Avatar would have a diverse cast that would respect the ethnicities of the characters. However, so far there has been no news of any casting, so we do not know who will be giving life to Aang, Sokka or Katara. Perhaps with the start of filming, we will finally know the names of some actors.
It seems that although the filming will begin soon, we will have to wait a little longer to know other details of this new adaptation by Netflix. But Avatar fans should not worry, because if it fails, we still have the studio created by DiMartino and Konietzko, who have promised that they will expand this universe in a “very ambitious” way. Do you think Netflix makes a good adaptation?
