It has been just a few months since Huawei announced the Kirin 9000 and Kirin 9000E chipsets based on the 5nm manufacturing process. After the introduction of these chips, it was said that Huawei could not agree with TSMC and could not produce a flagship chipset in 2021. However, according to information received today, Huawei will switch to the 3nm production process this year.
If Huawei’s plans are well-executed, new Kirin chipsets with 3nm process technology will appear with Huawei Mate 50. The P50 series will be introduced before the Mate 50, which is expected to be introduced in the fourth quarter of 2021. However, Kirin 9000 chipset will probably be used in the P50 series.
The source stating that the new generation chipset will be named Kirin 9010 does not share technical details for now. Probably, Huawei will benefit from the high performance and efficiency that 3nm will bring to the bottom. In particular, the new generation will focus on efficiency in the production process. So now we will see lower power consumption in phones.

It is not known whether Huawei has agreed with TSMC for now. If things do not go well in Huawei, we will not see the Mate 50 or P50 in 2021. The Chinese company, which started talking to Qualcomm in the last quarter of 2020, has not made any tangible progress for now. The year 2021 could be a big turning point for Huawei.
