Read our Galaxy Z Flip armoring news and sit back. Samsung now cares about durability.
According to LetsGoDigital, South Korean giant Samsung is developing new technical solutions designed to increase the durability of foldable smartphones equipped with flexible displays. The company announces the trademarks Armor Skin and Armor Layer. It is stated that it will be tested for durability in the Z Flip series. Applications for military-grade durability are made to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the Australian Intellectual Property Agency (IP Australia).
Observers found that under the name Armor Skin and Armor Layer, there are special strengthening layers and coatings designed to increase the resistance of flexible smartphones to damage. The first devices with new technical solutions are likely to be the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3, which Samsung is expected to announce this year. Last year, an estimated 2.5 million smartphones with flexible displays were shipped worldwide.
According to analysts, global shipments of such devices will be at the level of 7.5 million units this year, which will triple compared to 2020. Thanks to these endurance armors, many people’s minds “I will give the money of the world, but will it break in a crack?” will have found an answer to the question. Protection class will be 9. This means that the phone will be protected against scratches as well as breakage. This protection system could be the equivalent of the Ceramic Shield, which Apple introduced during the iPhone 12 series to make the screen of the new iPhone models 4 times more resistant to scratches.
