A week ago we were talking about HTC’s return to the smartphone market and it was no wonder, two years after the last launch (the HTC U12 +). They return to present not one, but two proposals for the mid-range: the new HTC Desire 20 Pro and HTC U20 5G.
We see with this that the manufacturer is committed to fighting in the current competitive mid-range with two proposals that differ especially in the “engine”, being the U20 5G the one that is compatible with this network and the one that has more RAM and a more processor new. They also show a somewhat different design between them, although in both cases with curved edges and fingerprint reader on the back.
HTC Desire 20 Pro
The most basic of the two new HTC phones has a striped rear, reminiscent of the HTC U12 Life, keeping that fingerprint reader at the rear and the curves that we mentioned. The four-camera module is on one side, integrating them vertically and being quite striking.
For the screen they opt for some medium-width frames and no notch: the front camera integrates with a hole in the 6.5-inch Full HD + ISP panel. It is somewhat smaller than the U20 5G and the ratio is somewhat less elongated, at 19.5: 9.
Inside it integrates Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665 processor, accompanied by 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory, expandable with a microSD card. In this case, it is an option for 4G connectivity but it ties with its brother in terms of battery, since it has a 5,000 mAh battery with support for quick charging Quick Charge 3.0. It also has NFC and minijack connectivity.
Speaking of cameras, we see that the brand has opted for the same configuration on the back for the two new mobiles: a main camera with a 48-megapixel sensor, a wide-angle with an 8-megapixel sensor and two 2-megapixel sensors for photography. macro and bokeh. And that front camera that peeks out of the hole has a 25-megapixel sensor.
HTC U20 5G
With no stripes on the back but with practically the same design lines, the HTC U20 keeps the rear camera module to one side and curved corners and sides. It is also chosen for a hole for the front camera and a physical fingerprint reader on the back of the mobile.
Speaking of the panel, we went diagonal for this kind of big brother with a 6.8-inch IPS screen and also FullHD + resolution. In this case, the aspect ratio is 20: 9.
As we have commented, this one if it arrives with 5G arrives and is from the hand of the Snapdragon 765G. More memory of both types also for this U20 5G, with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage (also expandable through a microSD card).
Speaking of the rest of the features, there is quite a tie, with the same four-camera scheme that we have seen in the Desire 20 Pro of a 48-megapixel main sensor (with lens with f / 1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel wide-angle (aperture f /2.2), a 2 megapixel macro sensor and another 2 megapixel sensor for depth analysis.Yes, the front camera has a sensor with somewhat higher resolution, 32 megapixels.
They’ve also made room for a 5,000 mAh battery, but with support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 quick charge. We see in this case that the minijack, USB type C and NFC are also maintained.
Pricing and availability of the HTC Desire 20 Pro and HTC U20 5G
The HTC Desire 20 Pro and HTC U20 5G have been officially announced for HTC’s home market (in Taiwan). For now we only know the launch price of the HTC U20 5G, being 18,990 Taiwanese dollars (about 565 euros in exchange).
The price of the HTC Desire 20 Pro is to be determined, but what it seems is that there will only be one version of each of the models according to the memories. We will be careful to update this information according to what the manufacturer does with the international market.
