NXT TakeOver: In Your House will be held tonight, an event that will be based on the theme of WWE’s classic PPV events. One of the most remembered in is In Your House: Bad Blood, an event that took place on October 5, 1997 at the Kiel Center in St. Louis, Missouri, noted for its fight inside a cage “Hell in to Cell “between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker and for Kane’s first appearance.
That was the first time WWE had used that structure and it seems that it was revealed who had the great idea to finish its final design. Shawn Michaels was interviewed this week on The Bump and talked about that great night. Additionally, the HBK revealed that it was he who proposed to Vince McMahon to put a roof on the steel cage.
“I asked why not put a roof on the cage,” Michaels said. “It was just a suggestion I made. Vince took it and then made that what is now our Hell In A Cell. The first time we saw it, it was PPV day and we were like ‘Wow. That was great.’ And the first thing I said was, ‘I have to be on top.’ ”
Shawn Michaels fought inside the ring in the first instance and subsequently climbed to the top. Michaels tried to get off the ceiling, but was pushed by The Undertaker to end up falling onto a table. The climb to the roof of Hell in a Cell became a classic for the following matches, where we saw Mick Foley and Rikishi fall from the top in the following years.
