Shinigamis del Norte News: FROM THE NORTH OF MEXICO, THIS OTAKUS GROUP HAS GATHERED TO TELL THEIR STORIES

 

The Shinigamis del Norte are a musical group from Mexico dedicated to playing corridos music or, as they call it, frikicorrido. Recently, they had their first presentation at LaConve – Animex in Monterrey, Nuevo León where they performed some of their hits and anime covers that moved their fans.

One of his most famous songs is El Envidioso, a corrido based on the Death Note anime. Although, the spoken part begins with Ryuk, the shinigami: ‘Hey Light, I like corridos because they are the real events of our people‘. And Light replies: “I also like them because the truth is sung in them.”

WHO ARE THE NORTHERN SHINIGAMIS AND WHAT ANIME MUSIC DO THEY PLAY?

This group is defined on its official page as: A Nortaku Group (norteño-otaku) dedicated to playing songs with a geek theme or ‘frikicorrido’ founded by Lalothing. In fact, it is on the Lalothing channel where some of the anime songs they performed are located.

However, as they show on their TikTok channel, they not only sing corridos, but also cumbias and other anime songs with a northern touch. In fact, one of the most requested has been Your Enchanted Heart, a song from the Dragon Ball GT OST.

Despite the group’s name, Lalothing confesses that his favorite anime is Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and not Death Note. The musical genre they play, they name it Regional Otaku.

Their style and unique proposal have led them to win the hearts of the public. Another of his anime hits has been his reimagining of the famous song Pegasus Fantasy from the Saint Seiya series:
