Skoda has announced that it will call the new SUV model ‘Kushaq’, which it prepared for the Indian market and will officially be introduced next March.
Skoda’s SUV attack continues in 2021. The Czech manufacturer, who gave names starting with ‘K’ and ending with ‘Q’ to the SUV models in its product range, did not break this tradition and decided to name its new model as Skoda Kushaq.
In the statement made by the brand, it was stated that the new Skoda Kushaq, which was previewed with the Vision In concept last year, will be sold in the Indian market. The name of the car is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘kushak’. It is also stated that the word in question means king or emperor.
Information about the new Skoda Kushaq is very limited for now. It is stated that the model, which will be built on Volkswagen Group’s MQB-A0-IN platform, will have a similar profile to the above mentioned concept model and the Skoda Kamiq, which is also sold in our country. When we look at the shared silhouette, we can see that the Kushaq roofline is less inclined towards the rear than Kamiq.
Vision In concept, which appears as a preview of Skoda Kushaq, had a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline unit that produced 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. It was stated that the concept, which transfers its power to the front wheels via 7-speed DSG, completed 0-100 km / h acceleration in 8.7 seconds and reached a maximum speed of 195 km / h.
The Skoda Kushaq will be officially launched in March 2021 and will be available in India during the summer months.
