On Monday (11), Qualcomm announced its newest processor for premium intermediate smartphones, the Snapdragon 768G. Just like every chip in the G line, this processor is aimed at devices that offer great gaming performance.
The Snapdragon 768G is exactly the same Snapdragon 765G, which was introduced in December 2019, but with improvements that increase its performance and do not impact energy consumption.
The chip uses Samsung’s 7 nm EUV manufacturing process, and, like the previous model, has the integrated 5G Snapdragon X52 chip.
Although the new chip uses the same processor architecture as the previous generation, its frequency has been increased by 400 MHz. In addition to the overclocking of the graphics chip, this increase in the frequency of the main chip should represent a considerable performance gain, both in games and in others. apps.
See the improvements implemented in the 768G:
- The frequency of the Kryo 475 cores went from 2.4 GHz to 2.8 GHz;
- The Adreno 620 graphics chip is 15% faster;
- New drivers for the Adreno 620;
- New Bluetooth 5.2 standard.
The first smartphone to be launched with the Snapdragon 768G will be the Redmi K30 5G “Speed Edition”. In addition to the 5G dual mode (SA / NSA), this device should have a 120 Hz screen and main sensor of the rear camera with 64 MP.
