Qualcomm’s second processor with 5nm manufacturing process is introduced. With the Snapdragon 780G 5G, mid-range phones will be more powerful.


Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 780 5G, its second processor with 5nm manufacturing technology after Snapdragon 888. Smartphones that promise high performance will be more affordable with the new generation processor with some features that are pleasing to the Snapdragon 888. Information from China is that the first phone with a Snapdragon 780 processor will be the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite. Phone, Xiaomi’s event on March 29 will become official.


Snapdragon 780G 5G Features

In the processor, which is produced by Samsung, the cores are clustered in the form of 2 + 6. 2 cores based on performance oriented ARM Cortex-A78 can reach 2.4GHz clock speeds. The Cortex-A55-based 6 cores, which prioritize energy efficiency, can reach a maximum clock speed of 1.8GHz.

The processor is accompanied by Snapdragon Elite Gaming and Adreno 642 graphics unit with 10-bit HDR support. Spectra 570 ISP image processor is located on the image side. The Snapdragon 780 can thus record 4K 60fps video and capture and process images from three cameras of up to 28 megapixels at the same time. The chipset also provides better photo quality in low light conditions and allows video recording in HDR 10+ and 4K HDR resolutions.

It is among the wireless connectivity standards of the processor with Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6. The new generation processor, however, can reach a maximum download speed of 3.3 Gb / s with the Snapdragon X53 modem.

Qualcomm states that the first phone with the Snapdragon 780 processor will go on sale in the second quarter of the year. The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite, which will be introduced on March 29, will be released in April, the second quarter.
