Solar Opposites debuted on Hulu on May 8 and has been a hit with subscribers. According to the streaming service itself, the animation had the best debut for a comedy series on the platform.
In addition, it is also the second most watched series of the week, despite having opened just five days ago. Hulu also reported that 40% of viewers who started the series finished all eight episodes within 48 hours.
Solar Opposites is the new animated series from the creators of Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan. The plot follows a family of aliens who fall to Earth and try to live a normal human life in suburban America.
Although the series just debuted on Hulu, Roiland and McMahan are already working on a second season. In a recent conversation with ComicBook, Roiland explained that he still cannot give much details about the next year of the series, but confirmed that it will have more episodes and will be much bigger.
“Well, I can say that we are keeping things a secret, because we want to see how it goes,” explained Roiland. “I can only say that [the planet] The Wall is not going anywhere, but things will certainly be different there. It is a place where we find a lot of inspiration and we will continue. But that is probably the only thing I want to say. The second season is quite long, which is exciting. We are very lucky to be able to do that. And we hope to be able to do much more after the second season ”.
